There are 47.3 million registered voters with 90,860 polling stations scattered across the nation. Moreover, some 3 million voters on June 26 cast their votes for the advance polling.

Yingluck Shinawatra, the younger sister of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is fighting her way to grab the seat away from the caretaker Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva. Today is the first election of Thailand after political unrest in 2009 and 2010 and the second after the military coup in 2006.

The question now is - Who will triumph in the Prime Minister seat in the Land of Smiles?

Inflatable Shark Discovered

Many animals and other living organisms had been named by science in the past but hundreds more are still waiting to be baptized (or at least named if the former is a strong word to be considered lol). Just recently, an inflatable shark was among the 300 new species discovered in the Philippines. These discoveries put the island nation of the Philippines on the news today. Try searching yahoo news if it sounds too good to be true hehe. In fact, one of the researchers was quoted saying "All these new findings help support the idea that the Philippines "is one of the hottest of the hotspots for diverse and threatened life on Earth,". Cool yeah?

The second largest archipelago in the world after Indonesia or better known as the Philippines celebrated its 113th independence on June 12, 2011. History has it that different races ruled and colonized the Philippines with Spanish being the longest. In fact, there are several Spanish words that Filipinos make use like Kuryente (current), pera (pear), etc. Even to this day, there are some establishment built during the Spanish era that can be seen almost anywhere.

With those mentioned above, I would like to congratulate the Philippines for its independence..

If you are into adventure, boats can be rented at a very reasonable price to hop from one islet to the other. Or, if you are into fashion and food you can check out several souvenir stores and food stalls located just across the road near the beach. When i was there, the place was jam-packed by local and international visitors.

Well, if you are concern about safety then Ao Manao is the place to be. I have not mention yet that the beach is located within the Thai Air Force Camp premise where officers patrol the place from time to time. No worries, alright?

I also suggest you wake up early in the morning just before 6 am and witness the sunrise of Ao Manao. I guarantee that it will take your breath away!

How do you feel when someone sings your own song? How would you feel when people of different race sing your native song with so much passion? Will you be proud? Will it make you happy? Or you will just ignore it because it does not have any importance to you? In short, you just don't care?

Honestly, when i saw a post of a blogger about the Korean Singers singing the Philippine song "BAYAN KO" (My Dear Country), i was moved. I can't believe it can be sung by other country with so much passion. I thought that this piece should be shared by others to see. It is something that all Filipinos should be proud of.

I was not able to prepare much, too tired because i taught nurses in a government hospital and was almost dead when i got home. I am sure Filipinos are having a good time watching different performances from street dancers as the city of Cebu in the Philippines celebrates its 31st Sinulog Festival today, January 16, 2011.

Sinulog is a big event for Cebuanos and i was not a surprised when my Cebuano friends started flooding messages and links on facebook whilst greeting everyone.

In the past, the Cebuanos (people of Cebu as being referred to) were strong followers of Islam and paganism. Their beliefs were changed when Catholicism was brought by the Spaniards to the archipelago during the 16th and 17th centuries. Today, the Philippines is the third largest Catholic nation in the world with more than 70 million followers after Brazil and Mexico.

One of the Philippines colorful and sought after festivals is Sinulog. It is celebrated on the third Sunday of January lasting for nine days honoring the miraculous image of Santo Nino (Cebu City's Patron Saint). The highlight of the festival is the street dancing where participants wrap themselves in beautifully tailored costume whilst dancing in a ritual, commemorating the original beliefs of Islam, paganism, and their acceptance of the Catholic faith.

Last year, Sinulog Festival marked its 30th anniversary and made history when it was jam-packed by eight million spectators; a huge success that made Sinulog 2010 the biggest Sinulog ever! Ranking Web of World Universities - 2010

National University of Singapore

I was not surprised when the National University of Singapore (Ranked 124 in the world and was standing proudly) topped the Southeast Asian Ranking Web of World Universities last year. NUS has been topping the chart for many years producing great people that made Singapore what it is today including Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew (the first and longest-serving Prime Minister in the world).

Kasetsart University in Thailand grabbed the silver medal position overtaking Chulalongkorn University who was always on top and known to be the best in the country. "Chula" as it is known locally was holding the third spot followed by Prince of Songkla University who was holding the fourth.

The first university from Indonesia who made its way on the list was Institute of Technology Bandung, and was sitting confidently on the eighth place.

Universiti Sains Malaysia on the other hand got the number nine spot and was smiling incessantly.

The University of the Philippines Diliman got hold of the number 19 spot while the number 46 spot went to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

Malaysia Won the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup

The Indonesian National Team beats the Malaysian Team last night with a 2-1 score in the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup Football Tournament in its second leg of the final round held in Jakarta. Last Sunday however, the Malaysian team won against Indonesia with a 3-0 score in Kuala Lumpur in the first leg of the competition.

The Malaysian team, therefore, was declared the champion of the tournament followed by Indonesia in the silver medal position. Congratulations to both teams and to the entire participants of the said competition! May you continue to strive for excellence and put Southeast Asia as one of the strongest footballers in the world.

I know it's late but i still believe in "better late than never" junkie. Been busy with so many personal activities related to work, so in return, I'll make sure to make a post about New Year before the 1st of January, of course. Anyways, we all know that several countries in the world celebrate Christmas with great emphasis on gift-giving and family get together during Christmas eve, with symbols being attached to almost anything, even bushes and trees in the backyard.

However, each countries has its own variations or difference in some other ways. Traditions and culture play an important role in making it unique than the others. Religion has its part as well, especially in Southeast Asia where Buddhism dominates the countries of Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam. Malaysia and Indonesia are dominant followers of Islam , while the Philippines and Timor-Leste are followers of the Christian faith.

Let's get to know Darren Criss more, shall we?

Criss has got a degree in Fine Arts in Performance, Acting at the University of Michigan in 2009. His mother is a Filipina, born and raised in Cebu, Philippines. His brother Chuck is also a musician and a member of the indie rock group Freelance Whales. He also wrote half of the songs in A Very Potter Musical and all the songs in A Very Potter Sequel. In short, he's a gifted actor and a singer-song writer.

Khao Kho - Thailand

Took it before we had our dinner

Khao Kho translated as Palm Tree Hills is a district of Petchabun. The name was derived from the Kho trees that grow abundantly in the area. It earned the name The Thai Alps for its cool breeze and mountainous rugged terrain.

In the past, Khao Kho was a military citadel of the communist. But after years of fighting, it became a top destination for nature lovers and local travelers. The War Monument, built in 1982 on Khao Kho Hill, commemorate soldiers and civilians who fought against communist forces.

My trip to Khao Kho was really memorable. We stayed in a tent that reminds me of my boy scout moment back in grade school. And because the temperature is always low all year round, most especially at night time, having a warm change of clothes is a nice idea. Of course there was no snow. But it was way to cold than i thought.

I would like to use this blog as a platform in greeting the entire country of Thailand a "Happy Father's Day", especially to King Bhumibol Adulyadej as he celebrates his 83rd birthday.

The King was born on December 5, 1927 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is currently the longest reigning monarch in the world. He married Queen Sirikit on April 28, 1950. Both are deeply loved and respected by their people for their generous compassion.

Somtam - SE Asian Salad

Somtam (Mmm, one of my fave Thai food) is a spicy salad of shredded papaya or mango that is popular in Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. Its main ingredients other than the aforementioned above are hot chili, sour lime, garlic, tomatoes, and palm sugar for an added sweetness.

Different provinces in Thailand have their own variation of somtam. In Isan (northeast), they like their somtam to be more sour, salty, and without dried shrimp and peanuts. Central Thailand on the other hand, love peanuts and sweeter somtam.

Here's the complete list of its ingredients and the steps on how to make somtam

About 2 cups shredded green papaya

2 tablespoon fish sauce
1 ½ tablespoon palm sugar, if not available can substitute it with regular sugar
3 tablespoon lime juice
½ cups tomato, wedged
1/3 cup dried shrimp
¼ cup peanuts
10 green chilli
5 cloves garlic

How to make:

1. Peel the papaya and rinse with running water to remove the acid. Remove the seeds and shred the papaya with a grater. Set aside.

2. Place the garlic cloves and the chilies in a mortar and mash with a pestle until crushed into chunks. Place the papaya and the remaining ingredients in the mortar and gently combine all ingredients by mixing with the pestle and a spoon. Serve cold.

Loi Krathong Festival - Thailand

On November 21, 2010 the Kingdom of Thailand and certain parts of Laos celebrated the Loi Krathong Festival. Loi Krathong takes place on the 12th month of Thai lunar calendar, which usually falls in November in western calendar. People gather near the river, ponds, lakes, or simply where there is water to float their krathong.

"Loi" means "to float" and a "krathong" is traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk. Modern krathongs are more often made of bread or styrofoam. A bread krathong will disintegrate in a few a days and be eaten by fish and other animals. The traditional banana stalk krathongs are also biodegradable, but styrofoam krathongs are frowned on, since they are polluting and may take years to disappear. Regardless of the composition, a krathong will be decorated with elaborately-folded banana leaves, flowers, candles and incense sticks. A low value coin is sometimes included as an offering to the river spirits.

During the night of the full moon, Thais will float their krathong on a river, canal or a pond lake. The festival is believed to originate in an ancient practice of paying respect to the spirit of the waters. Today it is simply a time to have fun.

Interesting, isn't? I went to Nan River here in Phitsanulok and saw thousands of people having fun floating their krathong. Others were partying on the street while eating, drinking, and taking pictures here and there. Some where just contented watching other peoples' activities. It was fun. Really fun. I look forward for another Loi Krathong Festival.

Indonesia Quake

My heart goes out to our Indonesian friends especially to those who were affected by the Indonesian quake that hit the islands of Mentawai, West Sumatra on Monday . A magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale claimed several lives and destroyed properties.

Record shows that there were 112 people who lost their lives, 500 people missing and thousands were evacuated from their homes.

This is another sad phase in the Indonesian history. With this, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to those people who died and suffered. May the missing people be found and i hope they are all well.

Sentosa Palawan Beach - Singapore

The size of Singapore compared to its neighboring countries is way too small. However, its economy is one of the strongest in the world. Its mixed culture, rich economy, man-made wonders, or modern skyscrapers for that matter does not make Singapore a great nation alone, because the beaches though not that famous can be a weekend getaways and make a great escape after all in a days work.

One such place that is ideal for relaxation while watching the sunset is Palawan Beach. Its suspension boardwalk leads you to Southernmost Point of Continental Asia, known as the closest point to the Equator in Asia. The tall shady coconut trees scattered around the place makes the place even more fascinating.

Local bars are something not to be missed. If you are into some chatty atmosphere, make your way down to Club Islander, Singapore's first beach club, or if you prefer a different ambiance where French and Latin Jazz goes all night, have a look at Bora Bora Beach Bar.

The list of activities while being at Palawan Beach is endless. And oh, just for the record, The Philippines has a province called Palawan which is considered to be the last frontier.Did you know that? Bet not!

The Parrot Flower

If we talk about nature's creation and wonder i consider this thing as surreal! I haven't seen one actually so don't get me wrong here. But imagine a flower with a light purple and carmine red color that resembles a parrot?

To verify the claim and the authenticity of the people who wrote stuff about this flower, I did a little research and found out that it's existence was disputed and pictures online were considered hoax. It goes to say that the minds of the people were clouded by its surreality, and that explains that I am not the only one on this plight. I told you it's surreal lol.

Well, Impatiens psittacina or commonly known as the parrot flower is a rare impatiens species which was first discovered by botanist Joseph Dalton Hooker in 1901. This plant can only be found in the northern part of Thailand (Chiang Mai), Myanmar, and some other parts of India.

It has a very close resemblance to a parrot or a flying cockatoo, especially when viewed from the side. The plants grow to half a meter in height with erect branches and thick stems. And since it is very rare, buying is forbidden and Thailand banned the exporting of its seeds and plants.

The beauty of a waterfall cannot be based on its size or even its height for that matter. My perception that the size and height of a waterfall matter is a thing of the past. Situated in HinTang district in the province of Nakon Nayork and gets its water in Khao Yai National Park, Nang Rong Waterfall erased all my doubts and made me believe that beauty can be seen in such a small thing lol.

It was in the middle of the day when i got there. Very humid and i was sweating profusely. So i went down the ladder leading to the water. I touched the water and it felt so good. It was so cool that the tingling sensation crawled from the tip of my finger up to the organ that pumps life to my very being.

Enough of being a poet, alright? Well, the water cascades down onto several rocks in different shapes and sizes. The forests surrounding the area with the greens being the majority, and the rainbow colors from flowers make the place even more breathtaking. Couple of resorts are just lurking nearby, waiting for you to attack them (they love being attacked for a night or two, and the longer you stay the better lol).

Phu Quoc Island - Vietnam

Ever wonder what the cutie island in the Cambodian south is, or who owns it? (Check the map) As you can see it is closer to Cambodia than to Vietnam's mainland town of Ha Tien which is just 46 kilometers away. Well, don't argue with me because Vietnam will surely go to war with you if you claim that it's Cambodia's lol. Anyway, this tiny island called Phu Quoc Island is a famous fishing haven of the Vietnamese people. The relatively large number of fish being caught here makes the island a leading producer of fish sauce.

The island of Phu Quoc boast the spectacular beauty of its white sandy beaches, coral gardens offshore, different species of flora and fauna, friendly locals, and slow yet relax atmosphere.

Since many tourists are flocking the island the Vietnam government decided to develop it into an eco-tourism destination by 2020. Its new international airport capable of accommodating large sized airlines is under construction and promised to be completed by 2012. Sounds nice eh? Well, let's just hope that its beauty will be preserved and won't be short-lived.

From singing, she crossed over to television acting in the second season of the highly acclaim musical comedy-drama television series "Glee" as Sunshine Corazon, an exchange student from the Philippines.

The spring premiere which was aired on April 13, 2010 had an estimated 13.7 million viewers. And since GLEE is back I won't be surprised if the number of viewers double or even triple for that matter. And for the record WIKI says that she is the first Asian artist in history to land in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 album chart. Awesome!

Ngapali Beach is the most popular beach in Myanmar. It can be accessed by flight from Yangon everyday which takes about 35-45 minutes, or a 14 hour drive along the Rakhine Yoma. The beautiful white sandy beach of Ngapali stretches three kilometers from the Bay of Bengal to Rakhine State of Myanmar.

Perhaps some of you may ask where does the name Ngapali came from. It is said that the word Ngapali was derived from the word Naple which was first heard from an Italian who got sick. He said Ngapali looked like the Naple Beach in Italy. Ask the Burmese or Rakhine what does Ngapali mean and they will tell you that it doesn't have anything to do with their language. To cut the chase, there is no meaning at all.

Jurong Falls - Singapore

The tallest man-made or artificial waterfall in the world is Jurong Falls which is standing at 30 meters high within the African Waterfall Aviary at Jurong Bird Park in Singapore. It looks very natural and does not come close to being artificial.

The various species of free-flying birds that roam freely with their different colors are like rainbow that moves. The different species of plants found in the area and the sound of the water plunging down are also relaxing. As Wikipedia puts it "The water plunges over the top of a towering cliff at a rate of140 liters (31 imp gal) per second. The water is recirculated through a meandering stream, that cascades down over a series of levels". Coolness!

The Waterfall Aviary Area is an ideal nesting ground for birds, plants and other living creatures. If you are into bird watching, this is the place to be.

Also, the Jurong Falls is just but one of the things you can enjoy at the park. There are several more which will take your breath away. Visit Singapore and have a first hand experience of its wonders.

The Endemism in Palawan

This is a Palawan shrew that looks like the newly discovered one

Recently, another mountain shrew that scientist confirmed is unknown to science and three new species of plants were discovered in Palawan. A Filipino scientist said that the newly discovered shrew is the second species of it's kind that can only be found in the province. It has small eyes, long sharp snout and a soft, downy fur.

This orchid was discovered in 2007 under the same family of the one discovered this year

On the other hand, one of the newly discovered plants was described as an orchid “having a beautiful set of white flowers with golden lip petals.” The orchid was found 1,700 meters above sea level in the stunted summit of the mountain. Click HERE to read the complete article.

After almost two weeks of intense sports competition from our future Olympians, the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games has finally come to an end. The medal count as of 25 August, 10.30 pm shows that China, Russia and South Korea got the highest number of medals. Today, August 26 is the last day but the medal count has not been updated yet. There might still be changes.

The 2010 Miss Universe Pageant held at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Vegas gave us Southeast Asian something to smile about. Although the title was given to 22 year old Jimena Navarrete of Mexico, our very own Miss Venus Raj of the Philippines grabbed the fourth runner up, and Miss Fonthip Watcharatrakul of Thailand won the Miss Photogenic Universe and Best in National Costume awards.

East Timor eyes ‘strong business ties’ with Burma

East Timor is a tiny country in Southeast Asia bordering Indonesia on the west. I would assume that there are people who haven't heard of its capital Dili, or even Timor Leste itself for that matter. In fact the country became a sovereign state on May 20,2002 only after decades of war and bloodshed.

Just like a new kid on the block, East Timor President Jose Ramos-Horta would like to strengthen its relations to its neighboring countries. He had a meeting with Burma's foreign minister but it drew protest because of the country's violation of human rights. One such violation is National League for Democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi's 20 year detention, just because she stood in the election. Come on, gimme a break!

Everyone wants peace! I don't think anybody here wants to be violated...

Halong Bay - Vietnam

Made up of 1,969 islands of different sizes, Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its spectacular beauty of limestone karsts. It is located in Quảng Ninh province of Vietnam that stretches from Halong City, Cam Pha, and part of the district of Van Don which creates a 120 km coastline.

Ha Long Bay literally translates to "Descending Dragon Bay" in Vietnamese. It is a popular travel destination for locals and tourists alike. The bay has an area of 334km² consists of 775 islands that has gone through millions of years of formation.

Two days ago, our Muslim friends all over the world and here in Southeast Asia started Ramadan. Ramadan is the time when they abstain eating from dawn till sunset (fasting), and when sexual activities and drinking are also refrained.

It is the holiest month of our Muslim brothers usually celebrated during August, September,October, November and December. A unification of spiritual reflection and renewal of oneself for the sake of Allah (Arabic translation of God). As what the Prophet Muhammad said "For the person who is fasting, there are two moments of happiness and rejoicing; when he breaks his fast, and when he meets his Lord."

New death of Mekong River dolphin

Dolphins of Irrawaddy river aren't actually river dolphins but oceanic dolphins who make brackish water their home. They are closely related to the orcas (killer whale) which are also in the oceanic dolphin family. These dolphins are now endangered species which dies from gold mining,electrofishing, and being trapped in gillnets.

Yesterday, a sad story of an Irrawaddy dolphin happened in north eastern part of Cambodia. The dolphin was found dead in a fishing net. It is said that the 27 year old dolphin swam out of the protected zone looking for food.

People living near the river are sympathetic to dolphins. They said that dolphins are very helpful because they drive fish into their nets in exchange of few fish for a meal. However, sometimes the death of these creatures just like humans is inevitable.

Kao Pan Sa

Kao Pan Sa is a Buddhist lent that lasts for three months and is also known as rain retreat. It is a very old tradition dated back when Lord Buddha stayed in temples to avoid killing insects and other living organisms. In Buddhism, people welcome the rainy season and call it Wan Kao Pan Sa, while the exit is being called Wan Okk Pan Sa. The word "Kao" means enter and "Okk" means exit.

During this time the monks meditate and teach new monks. They can wander in the day but must return and sleep in the same temple for three straight months, just like what the Lord Buddha did in the old times. It is also the time when people refrain from doing bad things like drinking or smoking. They usually light candles at night and pray, while walking three rounds around the temple.

In Ubon Ratchatanee a province of Thailand near the Cambodian border, they have gigantic candles being showcased to the people during Kao Pansa. Wonderful and amazing designs of candles will fill your eyes. Also, the wax sculpting and candle design contest is a must see there. "I am the luckiest maid in Singapore, with or without the money," the 47-year-old single woman told the Straits Times in an interview.

The maid refused to be named in public for fear of possible threats to her life in the impoverished Philippines, where wealthy people have been kidnapped for ransom and some killed by their abductors.

The windfall, including cash and a luxury apartment, came from the estate of her employer Quek Kai Miew, a doctor and philanthropist who died last year at 66.

We have several stories of people who were born from a poor family and became rich because of hardwork. Others just got sooo lucky by winning a lottery, and making them an instant millionaire overnight. These type of stories drive other people to work hard in order to achieve their dreams in life. However, some are becoming lazy, expecting that luck will be poured on them too (thanks to lottery!?). Anyway, the story moved me so i decided to make a post of it..She's so very lucky : ) ..Wish wish wish!

Phra Si Ratana Temple (Wat Yai) - Thailand

The surrounding area of The Phra Si Ratana Temple or Wat Yai was built in 1537 near the bank of Nan River, 390 kilometers from Bangkok. It is known for housing the most beautiful Buddha image in the entire kingdom and is portrayed in the Phitsanulok official seal.

Outside the gates you will see locals and tour buses lining up the road. It causes traffic sometimes because the parking space of the inside is not sufficient enough to accommodate the large number of tourists. There are also times when Wat Yai is way too crowded compare to other temples in the city center combined.

Its cloister is usually the venue of several festivals and events including the famous Phitsanulok Dragon Boat Race. Also, the temple museum located inside is home to the Sukhothai period art collection.

Because of its beauty and historical importance, Bangkok and the province of Rayong have their own copies of Phra Buddha Chinnarat displayed in their temples.

Patuxai - Laos PDR

Built in the sixties, the war monument or better known as Patuxai is a symbol of courage of the Laotian people who fought France for independence. After its completion, it became one of the main features of Laos and one of the few structures that dominates the Vientiane skyline.

The word Patuxai (pronounce Pa-too-sai) is a Laotian word that means "Gate of Triumph" and has a close resemblance to that of Arc de Triomphe in Paris. However upon closer look, you will see that the monument has the touch of Laotian architecture, designed with Buddhist figures carved on its walls.

"Notice the intricate designs of the structure. Kinnari figures all over! Very Laotian, very Southeast Asian! The Kinnari (half-woman, half-bird mythical creature), by the way, is the only iconic figure that connects almost all of Southeast Asia – from Siam to LanXang (Laos), from Khmer Empire (Cambodia) to Surigao (Philippines), from Java to Burma. Our ancient people have Kinnaris in their cultures one way or another."

Other than those mentioned above; You must expect some self appointed parking inspectors who will ask for a fee after you park lol. But of course, the gardens in the park are beautifully planted and manicured where one can relax and have an ice-cream while watching people come and go.

Aceh Tsunami Museum - Indonesia

Tsunami is one of the most devastating natural calamities of the world. In fact, the world saw the havoc it caused in Haiti on January 12, 2010 that claimed thousands of lives and destroyed billions of properties. South East Asia on the other hand is not exempted to this deadly disaster. One such record in particular was the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami that hit Indonesia the hardest.

Because of this, Indonesia constructed a building and named it the "Aceh Tsunami Museum", a symbolic reference to the 2004 tsunami disaster. It is also an emergency disaster shelter and an educational center for prevention of future tsunamis, or in case the area is hit by a tsunami again.

Located in Banda Aceh, this 2,500 m2 four-storey building has images of people dancing the symbolic gesture of Acehnese discipline and religious beliefs called Saman dance, decorated on its walls. The floor on the other hand was patterned to the Acehnese peoples' houses that can withstand tsunami, while the roof appears to be a tidal wave (cool).

The museum was designed by Ridwan Kamil, an Indonesian architect who made sure that victims who died and those that are still alive, be given a place in one of the walls of the chambers for their names to be inscribed.

Kaeng Song Waterfall - Phitsanulok, Thailand

Phitsanulok particularly the district of Wangtong is blessed with several waterfalls. One such waterfall is Kaeng Song which is clearly visible from the road along the highway of Kilometer 45. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of the mountain and the waterfall itself. Also, there are couple of restaurants that lined the bank that offer tire tubes for kids and swimming enthusiast. And for those who don't want to get wet, swan boat paddles are also available for a very minimal fee.

Phitsanulok is landlocked and the waterfall is a tributary with several mesmerizing cascades. It is best viewed during the rainy season as the water volume is high. The water is brown and may not be appealing to some, yet the scenery is nice and the local people enjoy it a lot.

The waterfall can be reached from downtown Phitsanulok at roughly 20 minutes by car. Within the neighboring villages, other waterfalls are just waiting for you, so come and visit the Phitsanulok and the entire South East Asian nations..A lot of beautiful stuff are in store for you!

A heaven for divers and a paradise for vacationers, this island in Malaysia called Sipadan Island is one of the best dive sites in the world. Living corals on top of the volcano cone, formed this paradise island located in the Celebes Sea in the Malaysian east coast close to Borneo, and at the heart of one of the richest marine habitats in the world.

Divers around the world visit this place to explore and never get tired of it even done couple of times. Why? Because you see paradise right before your eyes! A 3,000 species of fish or more have been named and classified in its ecosystem, and with hundreds of corals species too.

Not only diving and underwater species this famous island is known for because different species of birds such as kingfisher, sunbirds, pigeons and exotic animals like monitor lizard and bats, live in the lush jungle of the island. And because people want to protect this Malaysian treasure, it's no wonder why the accommodation facilities in the island was closed in 2004.

(I do admire the effort exerted in protecting this diving "Mecca", since we don't have much of this left in the world...)

Bagan Temples and Pagodas - Myanmar

Built around the 11th and 13th centuries AD, more than 13,000 temples were once standing along the Irrawaddy River. As one third of the city's area has been washed away by the river, others were intentionally destroyed in search of treasures, also natural calamities such as earthquakes; some of the temples were totally destroyed, turning them into piles of crumbled stones. Today, there are 2,200 temples remain standing.

However, unlike other ancient temples hidden in the vastness of South East Asian jungles, the temples and pagodas in Bagan are unhidden. Spreading across the dusty plains of this ancient city, these temples are notable for their sizes and shapes of oblong and square with terraces on the outside, a representation of the gods home. The interior corridors are also lined with sacred images that people worship.

Bagan temples and pagodas are amazing treasures of Myanmar. It was submitted to UNESCO but they refused it, claiming that Myanmar's military junta restored the damage temples, used new materials and changed the designs that bear no resemblance to the original one. Anyhow, these temples and pagodas shaped Myanmar's rich history and made South East Asian architecture one of the finest in the world!

Underground River - Palawan, Philippines

Situated 50 kilometers north of the capital of Palawan, the Puerto Princesa City Subterranean National Park or better known as the Underground River is a finalist to the New Seven Wonders of the World contest. It is one of the longest navigable underground river stretching at 8.2 kilometers, winding its way through a cave before it flows directly to the South China Sea. The amazing natural landscape of the cave due to the major formations of stalagmites and stalactites, and the inside and outside scenery is second to none.

The site is also being monitored and was listed by UNESCO as one of the World Heritage Site on December 4, 1999 because it holds one of the most significant ecosystem in Asia, and a habitat for biodiversity conservation.

Before entering the cave, one must wear a life vest and a helmet (protection for anything that might fall). The boat with a tour guide/paddler will then take you inside the cave, explaining everything in detail as you come close to the majestic rock formations that will take your breath away.

Before going on a trip to the famous Underground River, one must secure a permit in their downtown office for 200 Pesos per pax. The land trip going to the town of Sabang from downtown city of Puerto Princesa is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours (just so you know, the road going there is not yet entirely paved) , so expect a bumpy ride hehe. But surely, this paradise island will leave its beauty for you to remember...... Forever.

Sukhothai Historical Park - Thailand

Constructed during the Sukhothai era in the 13th and 14th centuries, Sukhothai Historical Park is the most visited attractions of Sukhothai Province ( Sukhothai can be translated as Dawn of Happines). It is located in the northern part of Thailand bordering the provinces of Phitsanulok, Kampaeng Phet, Tak, Uttaradit, Phrae and Lampang. It is a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO and being maintained by Thailand's Fine Arts Department.

Once inside the city walls, one can see the ruins of several temples, the royal palace, and the Wat Mahathat. The latter is the temple that occupies the largest section with a size of about 200 meters square. Thousands of visitors go to the park each year riding a bike, while others set themselves on foot while touring.

The ruins of the temples and monuments of the inside walls are just as amazing as the remains of the outside ruins. One such structure that depicst the life of the Buddha on its art details testify the cutural contact of Sukhothai kingdom with the Khemer empire (sooo fascinating). The park was officially opened in July 1998 and was declared as World Heritage Site on December 12, 1991.

An almost 2 hour of drive by motorbike of Honda Wave 125. Not a big and fast bike and it took longer than expected. But since the ruins were amazing, it was worth it.

Khone Phapheng Waterfall - Laos

Considered to be the largest waterfall in South East Asia in terms of volume, Khone Phapheng Waterfall is such an amazing thing to feast our eyes on. It is located on the great Mekong River bordering Cambodia in the south. A 49,000 cubic meter per second discharge of the cataract was the highest volume on record. It stands at 69 feet or 29 meters in segmented rapids making the Mekong River unnavigable to China.

The falls has several rocky outcrops and channels that look spectacular and best viewed before rainy season. Other than that, local people setting fish traps can also be viewed, with numerous restaurants and handicraft stalls around to keep visitors more entertained.

During the first five months of 2008 according to a tourism official, the provincial authorities of Champassak where the waterfall is located earned 350 million kip ($41,518). Eighty percent of the tourists are from Thailand and Europe while the locals from other provinces constitute the rest. Entrance fee for Lao Nationals is 3,000 kip ($ 0.36) while 10,000 kip ($1.19) for foreign nationals. Bargain? Visit Laos then..: )

National Monument (Monas) Jakarta - Indonesia

The most famous landmark that dominates the Jakarta skyline is its National Monument or commonly known as Monas. It stands at 134 meters, topped with flame covered in gold that weighs about 34 kilograms. The construction of this massive obelisk that symbolizes the Indonesian independence started in 1961, but was not completed until 1975 under President Sukarno.

To get a birds eye view of the city, one can use the lift to go to the peak of the monument (ladder can be used for emergency). The Javanese Sea and the Salak Mountain can be visible even from afar especially if the sky is clear, while a beautiful garden that surrounds the area and the Monas Museum which is full of information about the Indonesian struggle for independence, rest at the bottom.

Monas is a striking attraction in Jakarta. It's not just a place for sightseeing because one can enjoy a reflection massage in the garden or play basketball and football for free. It's also educational especially for tourists to know more of the Indonesian History.

Ayeyarwaddy River - Myanmar

Myanmar has lots of rivers that flow from the north down to the southernmost part of the country. During the earlier times and even today, the rivers played and are still playing an important part to the Burmese people for transporting of goods and merchandises (even rice is produced in the Ayeyarwaddy delta).

Among the many rivers of Myanmar, the Ayeyarwaddy River (formerly known as Irrawaddy River) is the most important and by far the largest. An about 1,550 km (960 miles) long, with a total drainage area of about 158,700 square miles (411,000 square km), the river also serves as a commercial waterway to the whole nation stretching from the north to the south before meeting the Andaman Sea.

An Irrawady Dolphin which is on the verge of extinction if not protected

People believed that the name "Ayeyarwaddy" meaning "elephant river" came from a Sanskrit word airavati". However, its name was given to the Irrawaddy Dolphin (Orcaella brevistosus) who makes the river its nesting ground. And just so you know, the dolphin can also be found in the sea not just in the river alone : )

Concealed by the forest and was abandoned for many years, the Angkor Wat in Cambodia was rediscovered by a French man about 150 years ago. It is one of the country's landmarks that draws huge amount of local and foreign visitors each year.

The temple was built for the Khmer kings from 9th to the 15th century and has been a Cambodian pride that appears on its national flag. Its architecture style depicts the life of the devas in Mount Meru in Hindu Mythlogy which can be seen in its carved surfaces.

Many restorations took place and has been funded by the international community. Today, it is one of the sought after attractions in the whole South East Asian region and is listed as a World Heritage Site. The tourists influx is helping the Cambodian government for the site's maintenance though it caused little damage. It is located exactly 5.5 km north of the city of Siem Reap.

Taal Volcano - Philippines

Situated close to the center of Taal Lake in the province of Batangas, Taal Volcano is one of the world's lowest volcanoes standing at 311m above sea level. It is surrounded by a lake which covers 127 sq. km in area, about two meters above sea level and is known to originate from the eruption of pre-historic volcanoes.

The "Why don't you pick someone your own size? thingie" is irrelevant to the world's smallest volcano (yes, you heard me right, the world's smallest.) Small as it is, don't be deluded by its size because it erupted couple of times and claimed thousands of lives. It first erupted in 1752, but the most cathastropic eruptions happened in 1754 and 1911. The 1911 eruption alone claimed more than a thousand lives and spewed ashes even as far as Manila.

Despite the dangers the volcano possess, Taal Volcano is one of the most visited sites in the Philippines. Tourists enjoy the cooler climate and a very refreshing environment within the area. Fruits and vegetables are also in abundance because of its favorably rich soil. They can be bought along the highway or at the market. Having said that, though the volcano look very still from a far, it may explode anytime, so it's better to take extra precaution.

Visitors can see the conference rooms and the presidential receiving room. Not only are those rooms open to the public, because even the basement which is the most fascinating part of the building can also be accessed. Under the scorching sun during summer can be experienced in the Philippines that is why most of the people find a cool place to relax. The number one spot for vacationers is Baguio City, located 250 odd kilometers from Manila (country's capital city) or roughly 6-7 hour drive on a zigzag road.

One of the city's tourist spots is Mines View Park. A stone-covered stairway (be careful and watch your steps as sometimes the steps are slippery, especially after the rain) will lead you to the observation deck which is near the parking lot, passing several souvenir shops. The breathtaking panoramic view of an old mine and the nearby mountains and valleys seen from the observation deck is a spectacular sight to behold.

For a few pesos, one can rent binoculars to get a better view for 5-10 minutes. If the weather is nice when you arrive, grab the opportunity to have your picture taken, because the fog moves in very fast especially in the afternoon and obscure the view. In case you don't have your camera, there are commercial photographers around which can be rented.

Lastly, shops around the park sells native handicraft of wood carvings and baskets. Sweaters, blankets and similar stuff are also available at much lower price. Good bargain eh?

Tasek Recreational Park - Brunei

Brunei cannot be compared to its neighbors such as Malaysia and Indonesia with regards to land area, yet despite the minuscule size, has many interesting places that are being maintained and well-preserved. One of the city's best landmarks is Tasek Lama Recreational Park which house a natural waterfall that stands majestically in the capital city.

The water from the park is actually a reservoir supplying water to nearly half of the country. And because the waterfall is within the city's interior precinct, the government turned it into a park for locals and tourists to enjoy. The park is a pocket of rainforest and a pleasant surrounding for nature lovers and joggers. Other than that, an 8 meter rock climbing wall is available for wall climbing enthusiast and wannabees hehe...

Ooops, I almost forgot....There are hotels within the area. A 5-10 minute walk wouldn't cause you an arthritis to find one, would it? : )

Sanam Chan Palace - Thailand

Nakorn Pathom is a province of Thailand 56 kilometers from Bangkok. In 1907, a palace was built by King Rama VI when he was still a crown prince, and named it Sanam Chan Palace. It was designed in French and English architectural styles, with a little touch of Tudor and Thai.

Sanam Chan Palace shared part of the site to Silipakorn University (university students can be seen wandering around and having their pics taken in various locations). On December 5, 2003, the surrounding buildings were returned to the Bureau of the Royal Household as requested by the former king's daughter, HRH Princess Bejaratana Rajasuda Sirisobhabannavadi.

The entire premise is more like a park actually. I had an enjoyable time taking pictures and listening to the tour guide, even if i was not able to comprehend all the things he said (My Thai language is poor, just so you know). And oh! On November 23, 2007 to December 2, 2007, Sanam Chan Palace celebrated its 100-year anniversary.

Romantic, isn't it?

A touristy place famous for its beach front, that is only 2 hours drive by car from Bangkok, Cha-Am is a district of Petchaburi Province in central Thailand. Several attractions are offered in the area such as temples, golf courses, Royal Palaces and hills that surround the place.

There are also plenty of accommodations to choose from. If you're traveling on budget, small guest houses are like cockroaches (hehe) that can be seen anywhere. While spas and five star luxury hotels are available for those people who want themselves to be pampered.

Things mentioned above are just but a part of Cha-Am. Since the place is near the sea, great sea foods are offered in most restaurants or by people peddling anywhere. Not to mention the white sandy beaches and the clear blue sky that makes it a perfect place for holiday seeker.

We had an English Camp from March 8-10 in Cha-am so i was off for three days. I enjoyed visiting some interesting places and i will surely make a posting of those. Here are the pics of the sunrise in Cha-Am and the beach where we stayed.

Kenyir Lake - Malaysia

The largest man made lake in South East Asia can be found in Malaysia (what a rhyme hehe). Located in the state of Terengganu, Kenyir Lake is believed to have the oldest tropical rainforest in the world. It also serves as part of Malaysia's gateway to one of its national parks.

The lake is home to numerous exotic wildlife and fresh water fishes. There are 14 waterfalls and several rivers in the 340 islands, which were once hilltops and highlands. Nature is at its best for adventure seekers, nature lovers and aspiring photographers lol.

Although an artificial lake, the area has been successfully developed for eco-tourism, and there are many resorts around its shores. Fishing is popular, as are jungle treks, waterfalls and caves. Jurong Bird Park - Singapore

If you are looking for an escape from the bustling city of Singapore, Jurong Bird Park is the perfect place. It opened on the 3rd of January 1971, and it is the largest South East Asian bird park and one of the best in the world. It has an area of 202,000 square meters located at the west end of Jurong Hill.

The park has 6,000 different species of birds with over 8,000 varieties that will fascinate everyone. Bird exhibits are done regularly to educate and entertain visitors such as the Birds of Prey Show, Birds and Buddies Show, etc.

Boarding the latest, air-conditioned panorail system is the best way to tour as it covers the entire park, and provides a great view for visitors to see the different exhibits or shows. Some people say that a Singapore trip wouldn't be complete without the tour at Jurong Bird Park. I'm sure many people will agree : )

Notre Dame Cathedral - Ho Chi Minh City

Christened as "Paris of Asia" due to the French villas and impressive trees that lined the boulevard, Ho Chi Minh City is one of the liveliest city of South East Asia. The saying "time is gold" is apparent because the people are always in a hurry.

The best way to see the beauty of the city? Set yourself on foot.....

One of Ho Chi Minh's (formerly Saigon) famous landmarks is Notre Dame Cathedral. It was constructed between 1863 and 1880, with two bell towers reaching 58 meters (190 feet) in height. A refined statue of the Virgin Mary stands in the garden in front of the cathedral.

The original materials used for the construction of the building were imported from France. But just like the countries who suffered during the war, Ho Chi Minh's Cathedral was never spared. Most of the tiles were damaged and the replacement tiles which were quite of a number, were since made locally.

Changes made to the cathedral were ostensible, yet it seems that nothing has been changed..It's still as splendid as it was....

Chae Son National Park - Lampang, Thailand

Lampang is a province of Thailand situated in the north. It covers an area of about 592 square km. It borders the province of Sukothai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Phayao, Phrae, Chiang Mai and Tak.

Blessed with flora and fauna along with waterfalls, hot springs and caves, Chae Son National Park is one of the must see spots in Lampang. The park became Thailand's 58th National Park on July 28, 1988. It is an important tourism place for the province and to the entire nation.

There are many interesting things that can be done in the park. I was there 2 years ago and enjoyed boiling eggs in the hot spring. Also, the stunning Chae Son Waterfall is just somewhere near. The sound of the water flowing and its impact hitting the stones? (Hmmm....music to my ear). It was truly a wonderful experience.

Borobudur Temple - Indonesia

One cannot argue that Borobudur Temple in Indonesia is one of the greatest temples in the world.The name can always be heard from scholars and historians, because a conversation is always not complete without its inclusion. Its origin is unknown but thought to have been built around the eight or the ninth century A.D.

Abandoned and was lost for many years due to the rise of Islam faith in Java, the temple became silent that only nature can hear its call. It was rediscovered in 1814, and is now completely restored to its original glory.

Borobudur Temple stands on a hill of six rectangular storeys, forming a stepped-pyramid. It is famous for its stone-carved panels that depicts the life and teachings of Buddha. Perhaps one of its unique features is that the temple is in the form of lotus, the Buddhas sacred flower. Other than that, Borobudur Temple is also included on the list of UNESCO as one of the World Heritage Site.

Pha That Luang - Vientiane, Laos

Pha That Luang Entrance

Known as the "Great Sacred Stupa" or "World-Precious Sacred Stupa" , Pha That Luang is a national symbol and the most important national monument in Laos. Laotian often said that one can claim he had visited Laos if he happen to witness the magnificent Pha That Luang, otherwise it's just a false claim. It undergone couple of reconstructions due to invasions of the neighboring countries in the past. It is also the symbol of Buddhism and Lao sovereignty.

The people of Laos believe, that Pha That Luang was built in the 3rd century as an Indic Temple. It consist of three levels which upon closer look, reveals a different characteristics of encrypted Buddhist scriptures.

That Luang (Who said that only people can have nickname?) stands at 147.6 feet high, from the ground to its pinnacle, and the walls encircling the stupa are estimated to be 279 feet long. It contain different scriptures of Jayavarman VII, Khmer, and Laos.

Referred as the "cradle of Cambodian civilization" , Takeo Province is surrounded by series of canals and waterways that connect towns, rivers and villages. It is also referred as the Water Chenla of the Kingdom of Cambodia because the low-lying area is submerged in water during the rainy season.

Takeo Province lacks foreign visitors and architectural charm compared to famous and popular tourist attractions like Phnom Pehn and Siem Reap. The name is not that famous in the world either, yet the French era legacy is still apparent. It is also the home to the legacy of six anceint temples and to some often visited resorts of Tonle Bate, Phnom Ta Mao (zoo), and a lot more.

Being referred to as Niagara Falls of the Philippines, Tinuy-an Falls flows in three levels that stands at approximately 55 meters (180 ft). The falls is one the most beautiful waterfalls in the Philippines, and it was featured in the International Travel Magazine because of it's colorful picture.

The waterfall is surrounded with lush rainforest, specifically giant trees which are centuries old, vines and ferns. A rainbow appears every morning, around 9 am - 11 am that makes it even more stunning.

Considered to be the third best diving site and one of the richest biodiversity in the world, the Derawan Islands located in East Kalimantan, Indonesia boasts its soft white sand beaches and an astonishing marine life.

The Derawan Islands or Derawan archipelago comprises of 31 named islands. It is also famous for the largest nesting site of the rare giant green turtles and hawksbill turtles which are now endangered species. There, you can swim with the turtles or watch them lay their eggs in the sand. How cool is that?

One of the islands of the archipelago known as Kakaban, is considered a nominee for UNESCO's World Heritage Site, not just because it is the world's largest and most diverse jellyfish lake, but also because of unique species of stingless jellyfish which can swim upside down. Really cool, huh?

Cristo Rei of Dili in Timor Leste or East Timor, is a statue of Jesus on top of the summit, overlooking the capital and resembles "Christ the Redeemer" of Rio de Janiero, Brazil.

A gift of the Indonesian people to East Timor, the statue can be reached by climbing some 300 steps. It rest atop an enormous metal globe, facing the ocean at the end of the peninsula.

Indonesian colonized East Timor in 1976. It seems that Jesus didn't turn his back to the people of East Timor because after decades of fighting for it's independence, East Timor became the world's newest nation in 2002, and the statue looks west facing Jakarta with open arms.

Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque - Brunei

One of Brunei's major tourist attractions is Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque. Completed in 1958, the mosque is a spectacular landmark of Brunei that dominates Bandar Seri Begawan, the nation's capital. The mosque is near the Brunei river that sits in an artificial lagoon, and is knows as the "water village".

Materials used for the construction of the building were nearly imported from abroad. Carpets are Saudi Arabian, the marble from Italy, a Shanghai granite, while stained glass was handmade in England.

While the mosque is considered to be the most beautiful in the world, no doubt that it is the largest in the far east which can be seen virtually anywhere in the city, and reaches a height of 52 meters (171 ft).

Candles in Ubon Ratchathani - Thailand

Ubon Ratchatanee, a relatively unknown to tourists, is situated in the north eastern part of Thailand. It borders Laos in the north and Cambodia in the south.

It prides itself for having natural wonders such as waterfalls, national parks, etc. They are also famous for shops that produce silk.

Ubon celebrates candle festival every July. People from different countries are welcome to participate in the wax sculpting contest. The candles are then taken to Thung Si Mueang, a park in the middle of the city for the evening exhibit. In the morning of Wan Kao Pansa, the candles are paraded on beautifully designed floats through the city center.

I was in Ubon last year for a holiday. I was flabbergasted seeing the designs of the candles (sooooo beautiful!) I truly enjoyed being there. I am looking for the video that i took so i could upload it here. For the time being, here are the pics I personally took.

Emerald Hill - Singapore

Singapore is the smallest country in South East Asia, yet it offer superb things for holiday seekers. It boast its multi-cultural diversity, where east meets west. One of Singapore's tourist attractions is the Emerald Hill, located near the Orchard Road and in the area of Newton.

Emerald Hill was originally owned by a postal Clerk named William Cuppage. It became famous worldwide when the nutmeg plantation became official during the year 1837 - 1845. A Chinese Baroque architecture is evident to many of its features, most notably to its houses and monuments. Its natural beauty made the Emerald Hill one of the sought after destination for holiday vacationers. It is also famous for the Singaporean high officials who reside in the area.

Some of the houses at Emerald Hill are being rented and sold to customers. I wish to buy one though, but the prizes seem to be beyond what i get in years of years of work LOL.

Gunung Mulu National Park - Malaysia

Malaysia is blessed with some of the longest and biggest caves in the world. One of the most popular is Gunung Mulu National Park, named after Mount Mulu, the second highest mountain in Sarawak. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that boast karst formations both above and underground.

It has been said that its chamber is so big that a 747 jumbojet of Boeing can get into the caves mouth (What's that?).It is 2,300 feet (700 m) long, 1,300 feet (396 m) wide and at least 230 feet (70 m) high.

Different types of fauna, including bats in millions, and swiftlets leaving and entering the caves is a spectacular sight to behold. Other than that, the park has an outstanding scenic views that would take your breath away.

Plain of Jars - Laos

One of Asia's most mysterious sites is the plain of Jars. Situated in the communist country of Laos, the Plain of Jars has been open to the public for just over a decade. Thousands of jars are scaterred in almost the entire Xieng Khouang plain in the mountain range of Indochina. Its origin is unknown but....

Legends and stories claim that there was a race of giants who once lived there. Another story was of the ancient king called Khun Cheung, who celebrated his victory after a very long battle. He then used the jars to store his lao lao rice wine.

The Plain of Jars is the most dangerous archeological sites in the world so it is imperative to stay on the designated paths because of the unexploded bombs which caused injuries every week. The site's proximity to Vietnam made Laos one of the most bombed country in the face of the earth, even if they were not officially involved in the Vietnam war. A nearby cave which was excavated in the 1930's was badly damaged during the war and archeologists found human bones and ashes inside.

The secret of the Plain of Jars is still waiting to be discovered. Historians are still baffled about its origin. I was in Laos 2 years ago for a visa a run so i failed to visit the site. Won't miss it the next time I go there...Promise!

Pulau Seribu-Indonesia

Pulau Seribu, known as "the thousand islands" in Indonesia, is located 45 kilometers north of the capital city Jakarta. It consist of scattered islands in four districts, with 105 islands in total. There are about 200,000 people living in Pulau Seribu with a total land area of 8.7 km².

The area of Pulau Seribu is a marine national park but some of the islands are being developed to make it more attractive to tourists. Others are uninhibited, and some are owned by wealthy Jakartans. The place is very near to the capital city, and most of the Jakartans visit the place for recreation and to escape the bustling city life.

A thirty meter high Ban Gioc Waterfall, is the largest one in Vietnam. It ranks as the fourth largest waterfall along the border, after Iguazu Falls, Victoria Falls, and Niagara Falls. It is located in Cao Bang Province, near the Sino-Vietnamese border. Endemic species of plants were rediscovered recently in the gorge, and also treasures of bandits in the cliff-side caves.

Myanmar's Most Sacred Pagoda

The most sacred pagoda in the Union of Myanmar is Shwedagon Pagoda. It was built on Singuttara Hill, and according to legend, it's 2,500 years old. With a height of 326 feet (99.4 meters), it can be visible from miles away, and dominates the Yangon skyline. It also glitters in gold, with the perimeter measuring 432.8 meters (1,420 feet).

Tabon Cave -The Philippine Cradle of Civilization

Tabon Cave Facade

Tabon Cave is famous for the archeological findings of fossil human bones, claimed to be 22,000 to 24,000 years old. Dr. Robert Fox and his National Museum of the Philippines team, started excavations from 1962 to 1970, and unearthed burial jars, stone tools, animal bones, etc, apart from the very famous Tabon man skull cap remains.

There are 200 caves that make up Tabon cave complex, but only one cave is open to the public. Tabon Cave is located in Quezon, a municipality of Palawan in the Philippines. It’s a 138 hectare of rugged cliffs, connected to the Palawan mainland.

Tabon Cave was declared a Museum Reservation Site in 1972, by the Philippine Government because of its importance to Philippine History. It is 155 kilometers away from Puerto Princesa City, the province’s capital, and are maintained and managed by the National Museum.
